South Petherton Porcelain Paving Garden

This South Petherton garden combines strong contemporary design with materials and features that complement the character of the surrounding village. SilverBirch Gardens created a stylish and practical outdoor space designed for modern family living, entertaining and relaxing.

The design brings together contemporary grey porcelain paving, Ham stone walling, pleached Photinia trees, garden lighting, a large Jacksons gazebo and a new water feature.

Contemporary Garden Design in South Petherton

We created a strong contemporary layout that gives the garden a clear sense of structure and purpose. Clean lines and carefully defined areas create a modern look while the natural materials help the garden sit comfortably within its traditional village setting.

The new layout provides dedicated areas for dining, entertaining, planting and relaxation. Each element works together to create a cohesive and easy-to-use garden.

Contemporary Grey Porcelain Paving

The new patio uses contemporary grey porcelain paving to create a clean and modern outdoor surface. The large-format paving enhances the contemporary design and provides plenty of space for outdoor dining and entertaining.

The subtle grey tones also work well with the surrounding materials. They create a strong contrast with the warm tones of the Ham stone walling while complementing the timber gazebo and contemporary planting.

Porcelain paving offers a practical, low-maintenance surface that works particularly well in modern garden designs.

Timber Gazebo for Outdoor Dining

A large timber gazebo creates a dedicated outdoor dining area within the garden. The generous structure provides an attractive focal point while creating a sheltered space for enjoying meals and entertaining outdoors.

The gazebo sits naturally within the new patio area, making it easy to move between the house, dining space and wider garden.

This creates a more versatile outdoor living area that the homeowners can enjoy throughout the year.

Ham Stone Walling

We introduced Ham stone walling to connect the new garden design with the surrounding village architecture.

The warm, natural tones of Ham stone complement the local character of South Petherton and help the contemporary landscaping feel appropriate to its setting.

The stonework also provides a strong contrast to the grey porcelain paving, adding texture and warmth to the overall design.

Pleached Photinia Trees for Screening

We planted pleached Photinia trees to provide screening and create greater privacy within the garden.

Their structured form works particularly well with the contemporary design. The pleached trees create a strong green screen without taking up excessive space, making them ideal for a garden where privacy and clean lines are both important.

As the planting develops, the Photinia will provide an increasingly effective natural screen while adding colour and structure throughout the year.

New Jacksons Fencing

We installed new Jacksons fencing to provide a clean and consistent boundary around the garden.

The new fencing improves privacy and creates a smart backdrop for the planting. It also complements the contemporary design without competing with the porcelain paving, stonework or other garden features.

Contemporary Water Feature

A new water feature adds another focal point to the garden. The movement and sound of water introduce a softer element to the strong contemporary design.

The feature provides visual interest and helps balance the harder materials used throughout the garden. Together with the planting and natural stone, it creates a more relaxing atmosphere within the outdoor space.

Garden Lighting

We incorporated garden lighting into the design to extend the use of the garden into the evening.

Carefully positioned lighting highlights key features including the planting, stonework, paving and outdoor dining area. It also creates atmosphere after dark while improving visibility around the garden.

The lighting allows the homeowners to enjoy the garden long after the sun has gone down.

A Contemporary Garden with a Strong Sense of Place

This South Petherton porcelain paving project demonstrates how contemporary landscaping can work successfully within a traditional village setting.

The combination of grey porcelain paving, Ham stone walling, pleached Photinia, timber, fencing, lighting and water creates a balanced design with both modern and traditional influences.

Every element has a purpose. The result is a practical and stylish garden that provides space for outdoor dining, entertaining and relaxing while complementing the character of South Petherton.
